Chance II Brochure - Inside: A Unique Partnership
Chance II exists through a partnership between the Menasha and Appleton School Districts and YouthFutures' Valley Fair, a community-based organization. This collaboration utilizes the strengths of each partner to provide effective curriculum in an innovative setting. The school's location at YouthFutures' Valley Fair provides opportunities for structured youth activities and positive community service experiences.
Mission Statement
Chance II is an academic program option for students in the Appleton and Menasha school districts, aiming to intervene early in the lives of at-risk high school freshmen/sophomores to help ensure that alternative programming for these students affords them the greatest opportunity for successful course completion, credit attainment and ultimate high school graduation.
How it Works
The Chance II curriculum includes language arts, math and social studies. With a school day beginning at 7:30 a.m. and ending at 1:30 p.m., students have the opportunity to return to their home schools to complete credits in phy-ed, science, or elective subjects, or remain at YouthFutures' Valley Fair for community service, possible employment, or structured youth activities. Students complete the Chance II program in one-year and rejoin their classmates at their appropriate grade level, having learned the necessary skills for continued academic success.
